World Travel Market

I visited the World Travel Market at London Excel yesterday. Very good day, marred by the lack of some exhibiting staff. Some had obviously had enough and left early! Bit disappointed by this but in a way, it was ok as I still came back to the office with a rucksack and three bags full of brochures and goodies. Goodness knows how much I would have brought back if everyone I’d wanted to speak to had been there!

Anyway, my job over the next couple of days is to sift through what I have – some leaflets were picked up to send directly to clients who are either travelling to those destinations or thinking about them for next year. The rest will be filed away for future reference.

Did some training on the South Africa stand – excellent overview of the country and good input from the other agents who were there. I learnt a lot especially about the arrangements for the World Cup next year. Really like the Fan Parks – especially the ones on the beach where you can watch a match on the big screen and then go for a surfing lesson. Sounds like it could be a winner with families where not everyone likes football. Also liked the spas out in the bush – what could be more peaceful than a massage in the open air with only natural noises around you – no air conditioning or background music.

Also did some training on the Jordanian stand – again lots of information. Looks like this could be a great destination for the next few years – especially for those who aren’t keen on lying on a beach for 2 weeks. Looks like some good deals coming through especially with charter flights now available from Gatwick.

Other good stands were in the Middle East section – definitely one of the busiest areas. Also lively was the Caribbean area – always happy and smiling staff (not like some of the staff on European stands, I’m afraid)

Once I’ve sorted the leaflets, I’ll probably post some good facts!
